Fog of war not disappearing or what??

Hi there everyone,

I installed the demo and now I have this huge problem. When those little movies start all I get is the subtitles, the rest of the screen is black. During the game I see all the buttons, the mini-map and the green circles round my avatar but everything else remains black but I'm proud to announce that I managed to kill the two wolves even with this handicap... Anyway, I'm not planning on playing the complete game this way.
I made the two files Kubi asked to make.
Anyone who can help me?

No offense to you personally,
but these threads popping up are getting old.

If you already read the sticky, there is written something about "Catalyst 6.3", which is btw, the solution to your problem.

You mean the one with the screenshots?
It shows trees and bushes and stuff ... I'm not even able to see those. Quite different case, I thought.

oh and I had already started downloading Catalyst but I wanted to hear some opinions first before screwing my laptop with the wrong software :D

EDIT: Well, I installed the Catalyst thing but alas nothing changed (I told you this was different, didn't I?) Could somebody help me while I'm waiting for all the nasty side-effects to kick in?

If you own a notebook, you need something called 'omega' drivers which are an adaptation of the catalyst things for mobile chipsets.

Okay and could you please say that again in very simple and short words? I didn't understand a thing of what you said (except the part of owning the notebook, which I do).
In the meantime I restarted several times and nothing seems to work :cry:

I manage to walk up to the bridge and beat everyone there (even found the loot on the wolf) damn I would be a good blind hero :D

Just go to this page (http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati/win2k_xp.php) and download the Omega drivers. After installing them it should work.

You can try it with downloading Catalyst 6.3 (https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questionID=640) (Display Driver Only) and install it by using the
Mobility Modding Tool (http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/).

I had the same problem with a Radeon 9700Pro. All menus correct but the main playing area black. Set the Shader option under "graphics" to 1.1 and start a game. A restart later I could turn them back to max and get full details.
