First of all id like to say this game is succes, well worth its money
but after the first impression some clouds covered the sky

first of all i missed the skirmish part, but thats not the most important part.

But this error is giving me serious problems

After installing the game and applying the patch i started the game. I created a new char and started the tutorial, i needed something on my desktop so i alt-tabbed. When i returned, my pc rebooted almost immediatly. I got aggrevated. Ok, but lets not ruin the game, so i tried to avoid any more alt tabbing, i played the game for an hour or so, then i saved and i pushed leave game. Suddenly the screen went blue, no more response.
This drove me mad :mad:

:p ok you know the feeling this game rock, but could you please help the community :) hope for a soon reply

P4 2.6Ghz
ATI 9600 TX

My computer reboots on leaving the game or alt-tab'ing as well.
Don't expect anything more than to hear it is a feature and that you should send them your dxdiag.txt, because it is obviously your computer that is the problem, the game is immacualte.

Hi there,

the problem you mentioned is the same as mine. When I leave the game, it tries to go to windows but instead the screen stays almost dark.. but through the darkness I can see my desktop and my cursor moves when I move the mouse. With sharpened eyes I seek my way through it and find the "start" button at the buttom. I click and exit windows. BUT!! while exiting windows it just crashes. Poof... no lifesign..... none at all...... and only my reset button works as a painfull resurrection.

It's a problem of ATI Catalyst drivers. We can currently recommend only using the Catalyst 3.6 drivers with standard settings (do not force Antialiasing). ATI is aware of the problems.

I'm playing on Catalyst 3.9 without FSAA. My computer didn't hang today when I ctrl+esc'ed the game and stopped it in windows. Windows was succesfully turned off after that.

So you're blaming the hardware manufacturers because you can't properly code a game!? Come on that is a bit lame don't you think, Cats 3.6 are almost a year old surely the game was coded during Cats 3.7 at least.

Anyway the reason I'm irate is I just bought the game today and it ran fine, in fact I love the game. My problem came, like everyone elses, when I exited the game. Instead of the Windows desktop I'm greeted with a BSoD and a system reset.

Just to clear up the usual "blame the user" stuff. I have the latest drivers for my system, I have the 1.03 patch installed for the game and all my system is uptodate with patches and all that stuff. My system, in brief, is an Athlon XP 2800+, 1024meg RAM, Sapphire 9800 Pro. So the game should work without a hitch, but it doesn't.

Now I think instead of blaming the hardware manufacturers, who's hardware and drivers run every other game I own without a problem, you should consider that you released a substandard product that wasn't thoroughly tested before release (how else could the game have gotten 3 patches in the VERY short time it has been out?).

Chances are, come Monday, I'll be back at the store I bought the game and be demanding my money back ... unless there is another patch due, like yesterday, that will solve this problem.

Daithus, there's no need for such a reply. ATI are working together with them to fix the problem. I'm having the same problem as you do, as you know, but as you've read I have a solution for quiting the game without you're computer crashing.

You want to quit the game, what do you Radeon users do:

-Return to the main menu;
-Hit ctrl+esc;

After you've done this you want to stop the game from running in the background, what do you Radeon users do:

-Hit ctrl+alt+del and stop the game manually.

People can start moaning and crying and screaming about this 'rediculous' solution and say this is ÚNacceptable, but hey.. get over it.

For those standing ready with their razorblades.. THEY ARE WORKING ON A PATCH TO FIX THISSSSS!!!

Daithus or whatever your name is...

ATI is reknown for having crappy drivers and great hardware

Using "New drivers" I have a problem with at least one game/software whenever I update.

3.6 Is possibly the most stable set of drivers that ATI has produced.

If you want good hardware go with ATI

If you want good drivers go with nvidia.

I am willing to try any solution that doesn't require messing around with my system drivers/configuration all for one game ... so I'll give your idea a go Eldaron :)

Ruen let's not get into the debate over drivers and the like, ATI is no longer that far behind Nvidia as far as drivers go.

At the end of the day I'm irate because this is such a big problem (not to mention the other problems with the game) and I can't see how beta testers never came across it. From browsing the forums it would appear the vast majority of people who bought this game have (or are dealing with) bugs and other problems.

I know this is not EA and there are limited resources to use, but Spellforce should NOT have been released for a fe wmore months until the bugs could have been sorted. This is a classc case of rushing to meet deadlines, they put the game out KNOWING it was faulty so they deserve ALL the shit that comes flying their way.

Ruen your link doesn't work.

I take it that the link is to another thread where someone (or a number of people) are having problems just getting the game to work? If this is so it just proves my point.
